Disaccharides (shown below) consist of 2 monosaccharides joined together. The most common is sucrose (below), which consist of a glucose and a fructose molecule joined:

Other important example of a disaccharide is maltose, which consists of 2 glucoses joined together:
Maltose is used in the production of beer
