Solutions and colloids

Chemists must provide solutions!!!

Soluções - soluto e solvente

There are various kinds of solutions. The typical solution is that of a solid in a liquid solvent, like salt or sugar in water for instance.

There are mixtures called colloids, which are solutions where the solutes are relatively larger molecules. For instance, milk is a colloid where the large fat molecules are dispersed in water. The white colour comes from the fat molecules interacting with light. In typical solutions the solute is too small to interact with light so that they will look transparent.

There are the following types of colloids:

dispersed phase (solute)
dispersion medium (solvent)
